It has now been 22 days since my mini-maze III procedure at Cleveland Clinic. I am showing some progess with both the blood clot in my right groin area and the arrhythmia's. The blood clot is reducing very slowing and is now about just 1/2 the size of a golf ball and still restricts me from walking. I think I might have more success with the recovery if I could exercise.

As for the arrhythmia's................
My first 11 days post-op consisted of being in and out of various arrhythmia's. They ranged from what seemed like a hard pounding AFIB to Flutter. Not sure. During this time I was on propafanone. My first visit to my local Dr. was on Day 11 and he took me off the propafanone and switched me to Digoxin and started to scale me up on coumadin. My arrhythmia patterns changed some what with the digoxin. Seems I no longer have the flutter type patterns but now have 2 or 3 different AFIB patterns. I also noticed that I would be in NSR when in a resting or sleeping state. Then on Day 20 (two days ago) I began to have longer and longer durations of NSR. Then on Day 21 (yesterday) I was in NSR from about 7-8 pm until about 9am on Day 22 (next day). Today I was in NSR most of the day, except for two - 2 hour sections when I was in AFIB. The durations of NSR seem to be getting longer.

QUESTION 1 - have any of you veterans experienced any recovery patterns similar to what I am having? Sure would appreciate any comments.

I see my local Dr. again this coming Tuesday and I think he will want to try another drug. I think he mentioned a drug called Tekosyn (not sure about the spelling). He says it is a new drug and he has to put me in the hospital to administer. I sure hope I am in NSR by Tuesday.

QUESTION 2 - has anyone heard of or experienced Tekosyn (sp)?

Thanks for the patience with this long note and again thanks for the input on this board. I know I am having complications, but I would do it again.

I am glad to see all the recent success stories and pray that the success rate continues to remain high.

Jim
